Our ”Bridging Climate Change Capacity Gaps of the Marginalised San, Ovatue, Ovatjimba and Ovazemba Communities and Promotion of Youth-led Climate Action” Project was selected as one of the projects to be showcased at the UNFCCC SB62 ACE Gallery session in Bonn, Germany.
This afternoon (19 June 2025), we showcased the project, telling the story of its success to the SB62 parties, observers and participants at an in-person interaction session. We are grateful to have had Madam Patricia Bamanyaki from the CDKN Uganda Chapter to represent and present on our behalf.

The Bridging Climate Change Capacity Gaps of the Marginalised San, Ovatue, Ovatjimba, and Ovazemba Communities and Promotion of Youth-led Climate Action aimed to build the capacity of marginalised communities, empower and promote marginalised youth engagement in climate change discussions. The project was implemented in three regions, namely Kunene, Omaheke and Kavango-East.
The project’s main activities included project Inception Assessments, Climate Change capacity-building workshops and implementation of youth-led climate action projects, responding to the needs of the marginalised youth community and establishing climate-smart school clubs.
Success: 85% of the projected activities implemented.
Direct Impacts:
• 131 youth reached consisting of 84 young women and 47 young men from marginalised San and Ovazemba communities, were reached.
• 37 households supported with retrofitting an existing borehole with a solar water pump in the Vergenoeg San community.
• 780 primary and secondary school learners were impacted during the tree planting initiative and the establishment of a climate-smart school club.
Indirect Impact:
• 1627 people empowered through social interactions and on media through post impressions.
• 9 (2 males and 7 females) marginalised youth integrated into the Youth4CAN platforms for continuous learning and representation.
The project was successfully funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives and the Climate Development and Knowledge Network and implemented in a 6-month period from September 2023 to March 2024, respectively.
We are even happier to learn that the gallery session was a great success, and we received a few visitors who interacted at our exhibition point.
We extend our great appreciation to Mrs Mirjam Kaholongo; we facilitated the printing of the poster in Bonn, Germany.
